Our Story
About The Rose Suites
Five Suites, One Quiet
Street in Bruges
We're a small guesthouse at Elf-Julistraat 27 — a residential street in the quiet Ezelstraatkwartier, about 1 km from the Markt square, roughly a 12-minute walk. Five suites, no reception desk, no lobby. You get a code, you let yourself in, and the place is yours.
Each suite is different. Some have a private jacuzzi or sauna. All of them are designed with couples in mind — think warm lighting, good bedding, and a bottle of prosecco waiting when you arrive. The name comes from the roses: they're a running theme in the decor, and honestly, they just suit Bruges.
Minnewater — the so-called "Lake of Love" — is a short walk south. The chocolate shops, the canal boats, the Belfort tower: all within walking distance. It's the kind of location where you don't really need a plan. You just step outside and start wandering.
What to Expect
Built for Couples
The suites are sized and styled for two. Romantic lighting, quality linens, and a quiet setting — no group tours, no conference rooms.
Private Wellness
Some suites have their own jacuzzi or sauna. After a day of walking cobblestones, it makes a real difference.
Walkable to Everything
About a 12-minute walk to the Markt. We're on a calm residential street, but the medieval centre is right there.
Self Check-in
You get a door code before arrival. Show up when you want — no waiting at a front desk, no awkward timing.
The people behind the house
The Rose Suites is a small, family-run guesthouse rather than a hotel. We restored a townhouse on Elf-Julistraat, just north-west of the Markt, and turned it into five individual rooms, doing the work room by room instead of all at once. That is why no two rooms here look alike.
We still run the house ourselves. The messages you send before arrival are answered by the same people who choose the linen, refill the coffee and sweep the terrace.
What the building is
One house, five rooms: The Sweet Rose, the Private Wellness Suite, The Rose Tree, The Desert Rose and The Cozy Double Room. Downstairs there is a kitchen you are welcome to cook in, a communal lounge for when the weather turns, and a terrace for the evenings when it does not. Those spaces are shared with the other guests; your own room is entirely yours.
How a stay works
There is no reception. Before you travel you receive a door code, so you can arrive at whatever hour your train or your car gets you here. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. In between we are reachable by phone, WhatsApp and email, and we answer quickly — which is usually all the front desk anyone really needs.
Why couples book here
Two of the five rooms, The Sweet Rose and the Private Wellness Suite, have wellness inside the suite: a jacuzzi and a sauna in the first, a jacuzzi and two saunas in the second. Private here means private to your room, not a wellness area shared by the house. The other three rooms have no jacuzzi or sauna, and we would rather say so plainly than have you discover it on arrival.
The street and the neighbourhood
Elf-Julistraat is a quiet residential street, which is unusual this close to the centre. The Markt is about one kilometre away, roughly twelve minutes on foot, and the walk takes you through ordinary Bruges — bakeries, bicycles, people on their way to work — before the postcard part begins. Restaurants, canal jetties and the museums are all within walking distance of the front door.
Parking
There is no car park at the property, and the historic centre is largely car-free. The nearest public car parks are an eight to fifteen minute walk away, and our parking guide explains which one to choose.
