Private wellness in Bruges: a suite with your own jacuzzi and sauna

No day pass, no opening hours, no other people. Two suites ten minutes from the Markt, with the wellness inside the room itself.

    • From €199 a night
    • For two
    • Self check-in 24/7

Wellness in Bruges usually means buying a day pass, changing in a shared locker room, and sharing the sauna with strangers. Fine, if that is what you are after.

This is the alternative. Two suites in the centre of Bruges with a private jacuzzi and sauna in the room — no day pass, no opening hours, no other people. You let yourself in with a code, and what is behind that door belongs to the two of you for the rest of your stay.

    The difference

Private wellness or a public spa: what is the difference?

Search for a sauna or spa in Bruges and two very different things come back mixed together: day spas where you buy a pass, and stays where the wellness is inside the room. This is the second kind.

Public wellness / spa Private wellness in the suite
With whom shared with other guests just the two of you
When during opening hours whenever you like, midnight included
Dress code swimwear or none, by house rules your own rules
Booking a time slot, often weeks ahead at weekends already there, all the time
Afterwards get dressed and head home or to your hotel ten steps to bed

Who is it not for? If you want a large pool, a hammam, a full treatment menu or a massage by a therapist, a day spa is the better choice. Private wellness is smaller and more personal — not a substitute for a full spa complex.

    Two of the five

    The two suites with wellness

The Rose Suites has five suites. Two of them have their own jacuzzi and sauna — the other three do not. We say that explicitly, because nothing is more annoying than arriving to find the sauna was in a different room.

    From €225 a night

The larger of the two. Inside the suite itself: a jacuzzi, a Finnish sauna and an infrared sauna, plus a private relaxation corner with an electric fireplace. For two people.

This is the suite people come back for, and the reason this page exists.

    The Sweet Rose

    From €199 a night

A little more compact, with its own jacuzzi and a private sauna. Also for two.

If the Wellness Suite is taken — and at weekends it often is — this is the same experience in a smaller format.

    And the other three?

The Rose Tree, The Desert Rose and the Cozy Double Room have no jacuzzi or sauna. They are comfortable and considerably cheaper (from €85), but if you are coming specifically for the wellness, take one of the two above.

    In the room

    What is inside the suite

    • Jacuzzi

indoors, in the suite itself, not on a shared terrace.

    • Sauna

your own sauna — no shared space, no time slot.

    • Privacy where it counts

the jacuzzi and sauna are in your suite and shared with no one. No reception desk, no key to collect: you receive a code in advance. The building itself does have a shared kitchen and lounge — the privacy is in the suite, not the whole house.

    • No opening hours

switching the sauna on at eleven at night is fine. Nobody will make an issue of it.

    Where it is

A quiet residential street in the centre of Bruges, about a kilometre from the Markt — a walk of some twelve minutes through the Ezelstraat quarter. Far enough from the crowds to sleep well, close enough to do everything on foot.

Check-in is self-service, with a code you receive in advance. Arriving at eleven at night is no problem at all.

The centre is largely car-free. Which garage you pick matters a great deal: €5.50 per day at the station, €17.10 in the centre.

    October to March

Cold and wet outside. Your own sauna inside.

Private wellness is a winter thing at heart. From October to March it comes into its own: it is cold and wet outside, you have walked cobblestones all day, and then a private sauna is not a luxury but exactly what you need.

Outside the Christmas period the city is also much quieter: fewer day-trippers, shorter queues, and Bruges looks its best in the mist. December is busy — the Christmas market and Wintergloed draw crowds.

    Frequently asked questions

    What exactly is private wellness?
A jacuzzi and sauna in your own suite, for you and your partner alone. No shared spaces, no time slots and no opening hours — you use them whenever you like, for as long as you like.
Where can you find a private sauna in Bruges?
At The Rose Suites there are two: the Private Wellness Suite (jacuzzi and two saunas) and The Sweet Rose (jacuzzi and private sauna). The other three suites have no wellness.
What does wellness with an overnight stay cost in Bruges?
From €199 a night for The Sweet Rose and from €225 for the Private Wellness Suite, including use of the jacuzzi and sauna.
Is there a wellness hotel or spa hotel in Bruges city centre?
The Rose Suites is a kilometre from the Markt, about ten minutes on foot, and has two suites with a private jacuzzi and sauna. It is a small guesthouse with five suites, not a large hotel with a spa wing — the wellness is in the room, not in a separate department.
Do you need to book the sauna in advance?
No. The sauna is in your suite and is yours the whole time.
Can you still check in late in the evening?
Yes. You check yourself in with a code you receive in advance, so your arrival time does not matter.
